Around 1000 AD, a very important Arabic school of poetry begins in Sicily, which over the course of three centuries, leaves important traces of its rich cross-cultural creativity as a permanent mark in the manuscripts of Andalusia and North Africa.
Over the years, and with the changing political and religious scene, this cultural legacy was neglected in its original birthplace, Italy.
A thousand years on from then, current contemporary figures in Italian art and culture, each in their own individual way, want to revitalise this cultural heritage, breathing new life into it with fresh awareness and experience.
The documentary follows these people, each in their respective fields in their quests to arrive at their desired result.
